So yeah, i went to buy an awesome lens but ended up getting kicked in the teeth by the salesman (not literally) by the fact that the D40 has only limited lenses!!!!

Nikon has been making lenses for your camera for over 15 years ... just look for Nikon AF-I and AF-S lenses, new or used.

There is no 300mm macro lens, zoom or otherwise.

The Nikon 18-200mm will shoot in the macro mode and is one of the best and most popular
