Wide Angle Flower
what lens should I get? What is your favorite lens?
I have a canon digital rebel t1i, my husband is going to buy me a new lens for out anniversary and I want one that can get the most use out of. I usually shoot a lot of portraits, but I also like to do landscapes. my go to lens now it the kit lens that came with my camera, blah. I have a 300 mm telephoto that does macro, cheap lens but it satisfies my urge to take pictures of bugs and flowers every once in awhile. I'm thinking maybe a wide angle lens or a medium telephoto. Any suggestions?
If you shoot more portraits than landscapes first add a portrait lens to your kit. I am a portrait photographer and I shoot people with everything from a wide angle to a telephoto lens for portraits.
Telephotos however are more flattering to your subjects features and helps to throughout the focus of your background keeping the attention on your subject. Telephotos are anything from a 85mm on up.
Wide angles are from 17mm to about 45ish.
The other route you could go is a 50mm which is the relative view of our own eyes. This could be used for both. But it kind of sounds like your looking for a zoom....I head in the direction of a medium telephoto.
