Tele-converter??

Lets say you had the Sigma 18-200mm 3.5-6.3 and a 1.6 crop camera if you added an extender should the extender be from the brand of the camera (in this case canon) or from the brand of the lens( in this case sigma). (this would be a 1.4 TC)

I know adding a TC would decrease the IQ of the quality but i'm willing to suffer for that extra 100mm

canons costs around 250$
and sigmas costs around 150$

I'd assume you could use both but which should i use??

acutally the over all zoom with the teleconverter would be 40-448mm so i would actually be gaining 128mm rather than 80.
its the 400d so you multiply the lens by 1.6 and thats your over all focal length.

Get the TC that's the same brand as the lens.

It's likely to be at least somewhat matched to the lens' optics.

If you're getting the Sigma 1.4 EX version, I have one and it's excellent.

Remember you lose 1 stop of light, and you're actually only getting another 80mm at the long end.

EDIT: The crop factor does not increase the focal length. The max you'll get is 200X1.4=280mm.
