Canon 18-55mm is lens broken?
When ever I take a picture it comes up with the err 01 "communications between the camera and the lens is faulty. Clean the lens contacts'' I have tried everything online cleaning it thoroughly and using lens cleaning kits, also when I take a picture it bright circumstances the image turns out to be really really bright. I dont know what to do, I took it to cash convertors they wont take it and to get it repaired it will cost £70 at my local camera reapir shop. I think my only option is to sell it on ebay as spares and repairs.
Have you removed the lens? Have you gently, and I do mean gently, taken a microfiber lens cloth to the gold contacts on both camera and lens? Until you've done that you won't solve your problem.
These lenses don't just break, they're too well made for that. But you have to take care of your gear because it can't take care of itself.
Oh, and be sure you do this cleaning somewhere safe, clean and dry - say your dining room table.
