Does Macro Photography with reverse coupling rings, only work with prime lenses? (I'll vote best answer)?
I have a 18-270mm Tamron and a 18-55mm Nikor lens. I read found out how use reverse coupling rings on this website:

It sounds very easy. But when I tested it with my 18-270mm Tamron mounted to the camera and my 18-55mm Nikor held in front of the zoom lens, I could only see a tiny spot. There was an Aperture lever on the mount of the 18-55mm, which i held to enlarge the Aperture, but the Diaphragm (optics) were still blocking the way.
Do I need to have a a primal lens mounted to the Tamron, to make it work? Does it make any difference?

No. But focussing is incredibly tricky.
