Canon EOS 40D help! What should I buy lenses that can be used both for landscape and macro photography??

I'm about to buy my first DSLR digital and I am new to the whole DSLR system. I had a Canon SD630 for about 2 years and I'm about to buy a Canon EOS 40D. As I discovered, there are a zillion lens for digital SLR cameras. I am looking into this macro photography (flowers, insects, etc) and landscape photography (sunrise and sunset beaches, golf, etc) … I'm on a tight budget and I do not buy more than one lens … Please suggest an objective that can handle all my needs with ease. In addition, give me some tips on what goes through filters for landscape photography … Thanks Finally, a digital SLR is really worth it or should I go for FinePix S100fs? Please I will appreciate all your answers. Thanks …

Rock the Cannon EOS. I have the 30D and I'm in love with her. Also I have about 10 lenses for rit. I recommend one above the girl has but if you're on a limited budget you can get: 28-90 quantaray that has a macro switch for half the price and much more lighter than the other one. I also think my PROMASTER 18-200 is much better than the sigma. Sigma is good, but my PROMASTER 18-200 is the catch-all tru. I think it was $ 250 not sure. the quantaray was like $ 150 and. the landscape is crucial need two lenses. polarizer (filter ND2X) and 81A, ideal for cloudy days and warm color in the background and landscape. Trust me. If you have any questions contact me through this site, I would be happy to help!
