It may seem an oversimplification to say that a camera is just a box with the lens at one end and a sensitive surface on the other, along with some media control of the last exposure to the light passes through the lens. But that has always been and still is, the base of a camera. In the early days of photography before the cameras of 1840 were simple, wooden, light-tight boxes have a goal and a slot or slide to make a sensitive plate. The presentations were made by removing and replacing a cover over the lens and the camera had to be considered in the darkroom for downloading.

The slide holders 1840 made other improvements such as bellows or sliding boxes, one within another for purposes of focus, made a little easier to use cameras. Primitivo blinds to control the time of the exhibition, along with the "ladder" consisting of strips of brass drilled with holes of different sizes to control depth of field, came shortly thereafter.

Many fine photographs were taken with these cameras and you can find examples in various museums. However, almost necessary force an ox to carry all equipment to a desired location, and since the plates had to be developed
and coated in the same place, a portable darkroom was needed. One of the most famous pioneers, Roger Fenton, Baker had to make a horse go in a dark room to carry the Crimean War in 1855, so one needs a profound pocket as well.

For pure quality and art would be difficult to overcome many of the photographs taken in the first thirty or forty years photography, which goes to show that it is man (or woman!) behind the camera that counts. modern cameras, even the modest price, are a marvel of sophistication compared with the first models, but the basic function remains the same.

Where I can buy a top of the lens of a Canon SLR camera

My son has a Canon EOS 400D SLR camera. He has received 18-55mm with it. Recently went on a camping trip and returned without the lens cap. I worry about lens scratch if we buy a new cap. Although we seen in quite a few shops, we can not find any. There are any online stores that sell them? Thank you. We like in the United Kingdom.

I am assuming The lens has a filter diameter of 58 mm. Look at the front of the lens and have a 0 against and a slash through it and then a number. If it says 58, this is the stop for you. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_p?url=search-alias% 3Dphoto and keywords field = 58 mm canon + target + Plug & x = 0 & y = 0
