how to forge my own ring?
i was thinking of making my own ring, out of any metal that i can handle (no blacksmithing skills here). nothing shiny or polished or anything, just a ring that i can boast about making myself =) simple flat hoop. it has to be made of a metal thats durable though, i dont want to BREAK it! pls give me a step by step instruction

The easiest will be to get a piercing saw/jewelers saw and saw a ring out of a sheet of metal which isn't too thick. You can use a file and sandpapers with different grit to smooth and even polish.
Or you can take a nut for a screw which is big enough and use a drill and a file to make the hole big enough.
Or you can use a narrow strip of copper (read up how to anneal copper). Annealed copper is very soft, you'll be able to work it quite easily. Roll it around your finder. You can either rivet it closed or solder it closed.
forging is about the last thing I would use to make a ring. Metal casting would be easy in the first step, but would require much more knowledge on your part, so I would think about ways to fabricate one.
Actually, if you go to your library you probably find a couple of jewelry books including some which have the making of rings as a project you can do at home. Don't forget there are libraries...
