is there a canon-to-sony lens adaptor? ive seen nikon to canon or canon to nikon, never any sony adapters.?

(sony alpha DSLR) i want the 5:1 canon macro lens but it wont work on my camera without an adaptor, i would like to know if there is a canon to sony mount adapter

The general purpose of lens adapters is to allow photographers to adapt legacy lenses to modern mounts. Since the EF system is relatively new, more or less digital, and very much alive, there's little purpose in adapting lenses from it. Additionally, due to Canon's choice of design, only one modern mount (m4/3) is be able to achieve infinity focus with a Canon EF lens (and such an adapter exists because of this). Aside from EF to m4/3, I don't think I've ever seen an EF to XXX adapter available. The Canon to Nikon adapter you mention is probably a Canon FD to Nikon mount. The FD mount is the predecessor of Canon's current EF mount.

There is only one theoretical solution that I can think of, that is:
Buy two sets of inexpensive 3rd party extension tubes **from the same manufacturer**—one for the Sony Alpha mount, the other for the EF mount. These tube sets typically sell for $10 each on eBay. Be sure to ask the seller(s) what brand is printed on the product box and the outer diameter of the tubes to make sure they're universal. When they arrive, simply mix and match the parts so that the lens end is Canon and the body end is Sony. You'll definitely lose infinity focus (but you won't need it for macro anyway) and a fraction or more stops of light as a consequence. However, as a bonus, the magnification ratio will probably be greater than 5:1.
