Sony DSC-F707 Camera memory stick problem. The newer memory will not work with my camera. Any suggestions?

Apparently the adapters for the 'pro' series are not compatible. Are there drivers or will memory sticks continue to be available? Or, is it time to hoard the smaller memory sticks? Any suggestions? Why would Sony discontinue the product or not make compatible memory sticks. This was an expensive camera. I can't buy a new camera every 4 years because of technology changes. Or perhaps 32mm is the best option after all.

you should check the Sony website. There is probably a firmware update to resolve this. Since this memory format/"form factor" depends of software in the camera to program/erase the flash memory, you have no recourse but to hope the Sony keeps updating their older cameras forever to take advantage of the flash memory advances.

If you had selected a camera that used Compact Flash instead then you would not have to worry about the camera knowing about the latest flash technology. CF cards have a memory controller device built into the card and the camera doesn't not need to be aware of the process or programming or erasing the flash. This is not true of the other flash memory form factors.
