Sigma Zoom Lenses Reviewed
Are canon,sigma and phoenix lenses all compatible with the Olympus Evolt 510 DSLR?
each time i do a search for a large telephoto such as (Phoenix 650-1300mm Telephoto Zoom Lens ) these brands pop up on places like Amazon and Ebay,,,also there are no reviews/feedback on brands like Opteka and Phoenix-does ANYONE buy them and give feedback??
All camera manufacturers use a proprietary lens mount so there is no compatibility between brands. A Canon lens will only mount to a Canon DSLR; a Nikon lens will only mount to a Nikon or Fuji DSLR (the Fuji DSLR is based on a Nikon body); a Sony/Minolta* lens will only mount to a Sony DSLR.
Unless you enjoy wasting money, IMO you should ignore lenses by Opteka and Phoenix. Tamron, Sigma and Tokina are usually pretty good quality. The best quality lenses for your Olympus are the Olympus Zuiko.
If you really need a long focal length, buy a Zuiko telephoto and matching 2X teleconverter.
I have seen an adapter that allows you to mount the older Minolta MC/MD mount manual focus lenses on the Olympus "E" series DSLR cameras.
* When Minolta introduced the AF Maxxum camera in 1985 they changed their lens mount. When Sony bought the DSLR line from Konica-Minolta in 2006 they wisely kept the lens mount. The older manual focus MC/MD lenses are not compatible with the AF mount.
