Protection Lens Filter
which lens filter/protector should i buy?
I have just bought a Nikon camera with 18-105 and 50mm 1.8d lenses. Could anybody please suggest me which filter should I buy for the protection of lenses. I found that there are lots of filters, but I am looking one for each of my lenses primarily for protection.

A UV or Skylight filter will do what you want. Don't buy a cheap, no-name filter. Choose from quality brands like Hoya, B+W, Tiffen, Heliopan. "A good filter isn't cheap and a cheap filter isn't good."
While you're ordering your UV or Skylight filter you may as well order a circular polarizer for both lenses. I recommend "thin" or "slim" mount filters for the 18-105mm lens to avoid possible vignetting at 18mm. Since the 18-105mm lens requires a 67mm diameter filter and the 50mm lens uses a 52mm diameter filter you might consider a 52mm to 67mm "step-up ring" so you can use the polarizer filter on both lenses. Just check for any vignetting when using the step-up ring with the 50mm, especially at f1.8. If you experience vignetting then you'll have to buy a 52mm diameter polarizer for the 50mm lens.
