Which is the best faucet water filter?

This is a question that gets tossed around a lot, especially in discuss between the various brands on the market today.

What Is A Filter Factor?

I bought a few black and white filters a couple of days ago, and I was needing some help understanding the filter factor. I have a yellow K2 and an orange G filter. The K2 has a factor of two, while the G filter has a factor of 3. From what I gather, those 2 and 3x filter factors translates to a one stop and 1 2/3 stop difference, respectively. My question is, do I add or subtract that to the original exposure? Thanks.

A filter factor tells you how much light is absorbed by a certain filter so when you are using an external light meter, you can compensate for the loss of light when determining the proper exposure.

Filter factors have not been used much since the advent of internal light meters found on 35 mm SLR's and DSLR's

The only cameras that you need to consider knowing and using filter factors are when you are using medium format cameras which do not have internal light meters and all view cameras.

If you think about it, since the filter is subtracting light that will be striking the film or sensor, you will have to increase the exposure to match the filter factor.
