What type of lens for the Lumix FZ38 would be good?

Okay, so I got a brand new Lumix FZ38 for Christmas. 12 MP, 18x Optical zoom. Which is great, but when it comes to focusing onto close objects, it's a nightmare.
The Lumix FZ38 isn't quite SLR, but is definitely an amazing Digital Camera. So if I were to get a lens for it, would it improve the focusing, or are lenses only for SLR's?
If you think that getting a lens would be a good idea, could you recommend any? I'll be happy to give more details if you wish.

The Lumix FZ38 is a very fine Super-Zoom Bridge camera, which means it doesn't have interchangeable lenses. Panasonic Lumix have been know to produce add on lenses that enhance the Wide-angle abilities or even increase the zoom, but I don't think they've an extended "macro" lens.

I can tell you though, many problems people have with taking Macro photos are little to do with the camera and far more to do with the persons technique. You need to make sure the camera is stable, use a tripod of some description (full size, table top, whatever suits). Put the camera into "aperture priority" mode and select the smallest /f:number (small = a large aperture). If you are taking shots inside add extra light, but be aware if using the flash that shooting close up, the barrel of the lens may cast a shadow. Play with the Zoom, many Bridge cameras don't have a constant aperture, it will vary with the length of the zoom, so you may get better results by using minimal zoom really really close up, or by using maximum zoom from further away.

Whatever you do, remember there is virtually no cost to playing with your camera trying to find the right settings. Above all, have fun!
