Travel Photography: Traveling With Gear

There is a mind numbing amount of considerations when packing for travel photography. Such as lenses you need, how you will store your photos and how they will carry everywhere. Then there is the pleasure of getting it all past the ever tougher restrictions on airline baggage. A little forethought and planning can help ensure they do not get stuck without essential equipment and are not taxed at no longer required.

Train

Perhaps the most obvious consideration is the camera and lenses. If you have planned your route and have an idea of types of vaccines that want to take. If you have not, stop what you're doing now and do this first. Once you know what photos to take, you can decide on lenses that will help you make better. Thinking about the landscapes? Then, not without the wide angle lens. Intimate portraits? Maybe a mid-range zoom would be useful.

If you are debating having a spare camera body does not. Debate is. Pack it. The last thing we need is the camera is stolen or rest, while on the road. You may not be able to find a repair shop, and if so may not be able to fix on the spot. That would be the end of your photo taking adventure there. Do not learn the hard way in the interest of extra weight.

Then there are all the accessories that may or may not be useful. If you pack this set of density filters neutral? Again, think about the types of photos that will take. If your landscape, then yes, by all means put them in. If your pictures are probably only going to occupy space. This goes for the tripod as well. In general, travel pictures are taken from hand, usually with plenty of light. However landscapes tend to be morning Early or late afternoon.

Storage

Once you've found what you're going to need to take your pictures, you need to put some thought how to store them. Should you take your laptop, a portable hard drive or two, a bag of memory cards or all of the above? How storage capacity you need depends on the duration of their stay and the number of shots you'll be doing. A laptop is useful if you need to view images on the fly, or want to processing programs back in the hotel room. But if not, its just a more expensive piece of equipment you need to worry. Leave at home. Some portable hard disk drives has a display screen so you can review your photos as you board, which can be useful for things like image you want and gives you the opportunity to go back and try again if you missed it.

As a rule, is a good idea to have two copies of your images as hard drives characterized by failure at inopportune moments. If you have a lot of memory cards, backup, portable unit used to store the cards is a separately.

How about

There are a few different options to take your team with you in one place. shoulder bags are usually able to contain a large amount material, but have the disadvantage of all the weight hanging from one shoulder. These bags are a good option if you do not have to walk far, but taking all art and per day can cause serious injury to his back.

Backpacks have the advantage of distributing the weight evenly, making them ideal for places where it is to do a lot of walking. Many of them also have the added benefit of not looking like camera bags and so tend not to attract much attention.

Should be considered many in the packaging for travel photography. But think about it and have the equipment that suits the style of photography you want to do and where it goes and that will allow focus more on what's around you when you get there, instead of trying to decide what lenses to use and completely missing the shot.

neutral density filter?

Can anyone help with this! ok, I'll shoot at night, photographing "routes" through of b + w film photography. I have been advised to use a running neutral density filter. I understand filter such as a small square cellophane you use in the darkroom, but I get the impression that this neutral density filter "is that I acutally put in the camera (in some way can anyone explain ?!!?!) this really just for me? What is a neutral density filter? How can I connect to my camera? you think I should use this filter for night photography, photography trade routes? thank you sooo much! I swear ill get the hang of the picture one day!

A filter neutral density attached to the front of the lens. In photography and optics, a neutral density filter or ND filter is a "gray" filter. An ideal filter neutral density reduces light of all wavelengths or colors equally. The purpose of standard photographic neutral filters is to allow the photographer greater flexibility to change the aperture or exposure time, allowing greater control, especially in extreme circumstances. However, it is necessary to use a neutral density filter if using a low ISO film and especially if you are shooting at night. A neutral density filter works best when you are trying to do long exposures on bright days or when the illumination is such that you can only shoot with fast shutter speeds. But if you are shooting at night does not make sense for me, maybe if you are using film from 1600 or 3200 ISO and shutter speeds are so fast you can not do a long exposure. In fact, you will exacerbate the effects of what is known as reciprocity failure by using a neutral density filter and the creation of longer exposures. then There are some links that you may read as one to help you better understand night photography.
