Lens Filter Adapter
58mm or 72mm infra-red filter?
I just use my camera stock-standard as is, but I'm looking at buying a lens adapter and an infra-red filter. Which would be a better option for that type of work? Also which would look better, 850nm or 950nm (for outdoor use)? Need more info please don't hesitate to ask, thank you.
I'm aware of this Hondo. I said I have to buy an adapter, ergo I have a choice between 58 and 72 and I'm not sure of the benefits they have over each other.
Digital or Film?
if you are shooting IR sensitive film the the 950nm is going to be way too strong, and depending on what film even the 850nm might be too much. You are better off with a 720nm, which will be more than adequate for digital as well.
There is really very little difference in effect.
If you are shooting digital then be aware that your camera will have an IR block filter in it unless it's been modified. It's not a problem but your exposures will need to be in the range of a few minutes.
