UV filter for Nikon D40 kit lens?

I was wondering if you have a UV filter screwed into the front thread, will the front lens cap still fit in? how much space will be left there? thanks

Yes the lens cap fits fine with filters of the same diameter as your lens screwed on them. If you used a step up or step down ring to use a different sized filter it would not work
