Hey all, I'm in the middle of buying between the EOS 30D +40D because of the price and the lens, I would go for a Rebel XSI, except I'm into sports photography. I would love to go with the 40D, but it's out of my price range with a lens, aproximately $1125, but it's under $900 without a lens, putting it close to my range but just a little out. I do have 2 lenses from my Minolta Maxxum 400si SLR.
100-300mm 1:5-6.3 Promaster
28-80mm Minolta ZOOM xi
Is it possible to get a lens adapter that allows me to put these on a 40D? This would greatly save me hundreds of dollars on some glass and get me a much better camera.
Thanks,
Or if not, am I missing out on too much with a 30D, i know the 2MP and .5 in larger view, but is this noticeable and that important, worth +$500.
The only problem is i can't sell my glass, I use it for my Minolta SLR whenever I'm doing film.
If you buy a Sony DSLR, it may use the Minolta lenses, but before you do, take your lenses into the camera store that sells Sony alpha cameras and make sure they will fit.
Canon use Canon lenses
Nikon use Nikon lenses
Pentax use Pentax lenses
Etc, etc, etc.
For sports, the 28-80 mm lens is really not going to be much of a sports lens ... the 100-300 mm is better, but pretty slow.
If you may have noticed the pros use 400 mm f/2.8 when shooting sports and advanced amateurs use something like a 70-300 mm.
