The protection of a red wooden fence. Product and technology?

I just built a wooden enclosure red for my pool pump and filter. 1.) What product would you recommend? I want a clear long-lasting protection. 2.) Saw a branded product but said that smoooth surfaces. My tables are pretty close difficult. Do not want to sand them. What do you think? 3.) Read in the can that you need 4 layers, but need to sand between coats. That can be hard on the surface rugosa. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Do not buy Behr, or any other products that Home Depot, Lowe's, etc to sell. They are designed for lower prices and ease of use. You are better with a high quality product. The results would be better, and will have to withdraw less often. I have included a link to a product made by Benjamin Moore that I've used several times. It really is an excellent product.
