LCD - Liquid Crystal Display
There are many LCD television manufacturers today. Electronics giants such as Sony, Sharp, Samsung, etc, have revolutionised the world of television. LCD offers high quality viewing that makes you feel like you are looking at the real thing. LCD televisions are used in home theatre systems that give you a feeling of sitting in your own home experiencing cinema quality movies and surround sound system.
LCD viewing is a pure pleasure factor. Today, you can sit in the comfort of your home and experience theatre viewing with popcorn from your kitchen. Let’s better understand LCD technology.
How does it work?
Each pixel in an LCD is typically made up of a layer of tiny molecules aligned between two transparent electrodes and two polarising filters in which the axes of transmission are perpendicular to each other. When there is no liquid crystal between the polarising filters, the light passes through the first filter to go on and be blocked by the second polariser.
The surfaces of the electrodes, which are in contact with the liquid crystal material, are then treated so they are then aligned with the liquid crystal molecules in a particular direction. This said treatment then typically consists of a thin polymer layer that is uni-directionally rubbed using, say, a cloth. The direction of the liquid crystal alignment is then decided by the direction of the rubbing. Electrodes used in an LCD are made of transparent conductor called Indium Tin Oxide (ITO).
An electric field is applied, but before that, the orientation of the liquid crystal molecules is determined by the alignment at the surfaces. There is a twisted nematic device (which is still the most common LCD), in which the surface alignments at the two electrodes are set perpendicular to each other so the molecules arrange themselves in a helical twist. This reduces the rotation of polarisation of the incident light and then the device appears grey. This is mainly polarised perpendicular to the second filter, which then blocks this light and the pixels now appear black. By controlling the voltage of electricity applied across the crystal layer in each pixel, the light can be allowed to pass through in different amounts now resulting in different levels of gray.
A further change in the polarised devices gives millions of tiny pixels that result in a clear quality picture on your LCD screen.
LCD televisions are more expensive than your normal televisions, but they are worth every penny you spend. If you are looking to buy your LCD online, you can check out Online Electronics. For more info, click http://www.onlineelectronics.net.au

What can I do to get better sound quality of music recording from a microphone on the webcam?
I recently started recording music with Sony Acid 6.0 as my base of study, webcam and microphone for vocals. I window screen netting as a filter to reduce noise sound. The sound is decent, but I wonder if there is anyway for me to get a clearer sound with this method until a quality microphone study.
You can not. Go to musiciansfriend.com and buy a small Behringer mixer and a condenser microphone. (They are ridiculously cheap these days!) Good luck.
