A 128MB memory card can contain 49 images when saved in a high resolution format but it can save up to 1,600 images when saving using low resolutions.

The Canon A640 unit comes with a built in flash type. It can be used as auto flash, with red-eye reduction flash, slow sync and forced functions. The viewfinder is from the optical 2.5” LCD screen with a screen resolution of 115,000 pixel. The interface of the unit is through USB 2.0 while the video interface is video out. It requires 4 AA lithium batteries to power the unit. It can take up to 500 images.

Even if you research and compare digital cameras that have the same type as the Canon A640, you will find that this unit is worth the price that you pay for it.

How can I set a long exposure on a canon power shot a570is?

I'm in a photography class and our next assignment is long exposure and I have no idea how or IF I can set a long exposure on this camera. If someone knows how I can set the long exposure, that would be fantastic.

That is too simple a camera for a photography class. You need a camera that allows you FAR more control than that or you are never going to get anywhere with the class. That camera is basically a snap shot electronic toy for consumers that don't know, and don't want to know, anything about photography.

If you look in the menus, I believe there is a scale where you can set a "long shutter". The camera has to be out of any full auto mode. Read your manual. The long shutter function does not give you any real control, it just allows the shutter to stay open longer than normal for night shots on a tripod. It is purely trial and error as to how much to set it.
