Pentax Cameras Review
Pentax Cameras was the one of the most well-known from Japanese company that specialized mainly in binoculars and cameras. But in the middle of 2008, the company merged with Hoya Corporation (that why we say was not is). On the other hand, Pentax still continue to produce some of the uppermost quality optics and cameras on the market, just not under Pentax name. And now, we want to share the Pentax company profiles, their proud history as well as some of their most popular products.
Pentax Cameras’ story begun in 1919 by Kumao Kaijiwara, at Toshima, Japan. At the start, the company dedicated in lenses for spectacles (they keep on in this field about thirty years). They make bigger their product by producing specialty accessories such as camera lenses and changed their named to Asahi Optical in 1938. After that few years later, Asahi Optical would continue itself with military contracts for optical instruments such as binoculars and cameras - in World War period.
Soon after World War, the company continued to make camera lenses and binoculars for their customers. After that, Pentax Cameras would become an industry leader and winning in this market and become as the Japanese market exploded in the post World War periods.
After a long journey, Kaijiwara succed to initiate their first camera - Asahiflex, in 1952 and in 1957 the company changed their name from Asahi Optical to Asahi Pentax or we know as Pentax. After that, the company has been linked with quality of photographic equipment. But unbelievably the company did not using Pentax Cameras as their name until 2002.
At that time, Pentax Cameras was become one of the most profitable optical companies in the world, providing everything from spectable lenses to cameras to binoculars. The company also present a lot of accessories and a comprehensive line of specialty optical instruments. In 2004, Pentax Cameras become a gigantic in this field and had more than 6,000 employee in Japan and abroad.
Products
So, not shocking when Pentax with their cameras well regarded by professional photographers and hobbyist all around the world. The company’s great moment occurred in 1957 when the company renamed to Asahi Pentax and introduced its single lens reflex camera. After that, they released Asahiflex, their first true series cameras. The financial achievement and the astoundingly commercial of these products in fact prompted the company to rename itself as Pentax Cameras. But as we mentioned in earlier, finally Pentax merged with the Hoya Corporation - but Pentax still sell, market, and develop new cameras under its name.
Pentax Cameras make a corporation with Samsung in late of 2005 - with regaining ground in the camera market from main rivals Nikon and Canon. And this ‘partnership’ was deemed in a right way when they producing DSLR Cameras. Moreover, the partnership also produced the Samsung GX-1S and Pentax DS2.

What is the reason behind the image stabilization built in lens body instead of camera body?
Hello
many DSLR manufacturing such as Nikon D90, D5000 and Canon such as 500D T1I build the stabilization units in lenses body (Nikon VR lenses and Canon IS lenses) which increase lenses cost and weight while they can be included in camera bodies (sensor stabilization such as Pentax k-x) ,thanks.
During the research, it was found that the least expensive way to stabilize images was to use the sensor ... that way the cost of the camera system to the user was reduced.
On the other hand wide angle lenses really did not benefit from image stabilization schemes and long lenses needed something special to guarantee a blur free images at relative slow shutter speeds.
Since professional photographers depend upon Nikon and Canon to produce tools they can use under sever conditions, both companies design in-lens stabilization schemes that provide a higher level of stabilization that a sensor based system can hope to provide ... about a 4 stop advantage to Nikon and Canon vs about a 2 stop advantage using a sensor based system.
Nikon and Canon do use sensor based stabilization systems on their P&S cameras with 3x optical zooms so know both sides of this equation. For them is was not an "either/or" kind of decision, but one designed to match the needs of their customers.
