Canon Rebel xti Zoom Lenses?
I just bought a new camera and the lens that comes with it does not zoom at all. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to find a good zoom lens (to take sports photography)? I mainly take surf pictures and i need a good lens that isn't too expensive! thanks!
Surf would normally mean long lenses... a telephoto of at least 300mm, preferably more.
Problem is, any good lens over 300mm is not going to be inexpensive. The inexpensive 70-300 or 75-300 lenses are not going to be much good either. At the least cost, the Sigma 70-300 APO (make sure it is the APO version!) is about the best of the inexpensive lenses.
If you can find a used Sigma 135-400, you might be able to pick that up for $300 or so.
Or save your money for a long Canon like the 400 f/5.6, about the least of the lenses I might want to use for surfing. Only $1,329 at B&H. The 400mm f/2.8 is only $7,200. Yes, seven thousand dollars.
Sigma has a 120-400 for about $900 that is supposed to be a pretty good lens.
